Event narrative

The Marine Exchange station at Saxman measured a peak gust of 62 mph at 853am AKST on Wednesday the 6th. Other observation sites in the are reported peak gusts of 45-55 mph between 7am and 11am that morning. The Ketchikan Indian Community and Tribal Health Clinic reported the high winds were causing doors to be dangerously ripped open.

Wider weather episode

An atmospheric river type front brought periods of strong winds to the the southern panhandle Tuesday November 5th and high winds Wednesday the 6th for the Ketchikan area. The upper elevations sites on Annette Island also saw high winds, but surface winds were below warning criteria and no impacts were reported.
