Coastal Flood — East Cameron, Louisiana
2024-11-09 to 2024-11-10 · East Cameron, Louisiana
Event narrative
Strong south winds ahead of a cold front and the remnants of Rafael in the gulf produced high tides along the coast of Cameron Parish. The tide level reached 2.1 feet above MHHW which produced minor flooding of Highway 82 near the Cameron Courthouse.
Wider weather episode
A frontal boundary moved into the region and stalled while Tropical Storm Rafael meandered in the gulf. Moisture from the decaying tropical cyclone streamed north across Louisiana. This produced heavy rain over the area that produced flooding.
