Event narrative

Severe(D2) drought continued over the south and Moderate(D1) drought over the north for the entire month. The Cloudcroft Cooperative Observer reported no precipitation which was 2.15 inches below normal.

Wider weather episode

Little to no precipitation fell in December across southern New Mexico. Drought conditions generally remained unchanged for the region during the month with the south in Severe(D2) to Extreme(D3) drought and improving to no drought for portions of northern Otero and eastern Sierra counties.
