Extreme(D3) drought continued for all but the northeast portion of the zone which remained in Severe(D2) drought.

Wider weather episode

Little to no precipitation fell in December across southern New Mexico. Drought conditions generally remained unchanged for the region during the month with the south in Severe(D2) to Extreme(D3) drought and improving to no drought for portions of northern Otero and eastern Sierra counties.
