Event narrative

Snow Squall. A snow squall moved from just north of Virginia to the county line south of Babbitt. Webcams in the area showed quick reductions in visibility and rapidly accumulating snow on area roadways.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front moved across northeastern Minnesota during the afternoon of the 17th. A few intense areas of snowfall developed ahead of the front and brought snow squalls that quickly reduced visibility and created quickly accumulating snow on roadways per area DOT webcams.
