Light Precipitation developed across the North Carolina mountains during the early morning hours. Pockets of cold air trapped in sheltered locations near the Blue Ridge escarpment resulted in some areas of freezing rain. Ice accretion from trace amounts up to a tenth of an inch were reported before the precip changed to rain during late morning.
