Several SNOTELs above 8000 feet picked up an estimated 4 to 8 inches of new snowfall.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure system moving through the Pacific Northwest of February 1 brought widespread moderate to heavy precipitation to northern California on February 1. Some precipitation did push southward into central California mainly impacting the Sierra Nevada from Fresno County northward. Several stations in the Sierra Nevada and adjacent foothills picked up between a quarter inch and an inch of rainfall. Several SNOTEL stations above 8000 feet in Yosemite National Park and in Kings Canyon National Park picked up an estimated 4 to 8 inches of new snowfall. Meanwhile, amounts in the San Joaquin Valley were much less significant; generally ranging from a trace to around a tenth of an inch of rainfall from Fresno County northward.
