Winter Weather January 19, 2025 – January 20, 2025 · Lawrence, Kentucky

The wider storm

On the morning of January 19th, showers spread northeast across the area, with some locations experiencing a period of rain before lowering surface temperatures prompted a transition to all snow. Precipitation was initially light, but then became moderate to heavy as a band of snow developed over southeast Ohio, northeast Kentucky, and western West Virginia on the morning of the 19th. Behind this band, snow showers continued across the area through the remainder of the day. Snow tapered off from west to east overnight, leaving only light upslope showers over the mountains. Storm total snow amounts of 2 to 3 inches were observed in northeast Kentucky.
