Ahead of an approaching low pressure system, rain overspread central Illinois during the morning hours of December 14th. Temperatures across west-central Illinois were just below freezing, resulting in freezing rain accreting on surfaces. Temperatures warmed above freezing from south to north during the late morning and early afternoon, transitioning precipitation to rain. Total rainfall amounts of up to 1.25 were reported across west-central Illinois.
