The wider storm

Strong low pressure in the Gulf of Alaska and strong high pressure over the North slope created dangerous wind chills over Steese Highway summit due to the cold airmass and winds speeds of 25 to 30 mph. Wind chills to -66 F were reported by the Meteorburst Site at Eagle Summit.
