Official snowfall at the Tri-Cities Regional Airport was 1.1 inches of snowfall. A public report from Gray was also 1.1 inches of snow.

Wider weather episode

A shortwave trough, embedded in a larger longwave upper trough, was the lifting source necessary to produce a light snow in the valley and ridges of northeastern Tennessee. Orographic lifting helped produce heavy snow in higher elevations of the mountains of East Tennessee.
