A light snow fell across Greene County, with a trained spotter in Greeneville reporting 1.4 inches of snow during the event. The following morning, CoCoRaHS station reported 1 inch of snow and the CO-OP observer reported 1 inch of snow.

Wider weather episode

A shortwave trough, embedded in a larger longwave upper trough, was the lifting source necessary to produce a light snow in the valley and ridges of northeastern Tennessee. Orographic lifting helped produce heavy snow in higher elevations of the mountains of East Tennessee.
