A light snow event resulted in 0.6 inches of snow in Church Hill, 0.5 inches of snow in Surgoinsville, and 0.3 inches of snow in Bulls Gap.

Wider weather episode

A shortwave trough, embedded in a larger longwave upper trough, was the lifting source necessary to produce a light snow in the valley and ridges of northeastern Tennessee. Orographic lifting helped produce heavy snow in higher elevations of the mountains of East Tennessee.
