Snow squalls arrived over the North Country during the morning on the 7th. At 802 am the Mount Washington Regional Airport reported visibility falling to 1/4 mile and winds gusting to 24 mph. The squalls lasted about 20 to 25 minutes before conditions improved. Snowfall amounts were generally less than 1 inch. Key messages: Heavy snow, snow squalls.

Wider weather episode

On Friday, February 7th a light snow storm was departing the local area into the Canadian Maritimes very early in the morning. A trailing shortwave trough was driving a strong cold front through the Great Lakes which arrived in northern New England during the morning hours. Snow squalls formed on the leading edge of the boundary and continued south and east, approaching some of the major highways in the region. Brief whiteout conditions occurred, thanks to heavy snow and gusty winds during the morning commute.
