Coop reports, among other reports, report snow largely around 3 inches in this zone. A lone 6 inch report was received in the far eastern portions of the zone in the foothills of the Big Belts.

Wider weather episode

A moist southwesterly flow aloft overrunning a cold surface airmass across much of the region resulted in a period of moderate to heavy snow January 3rd and 4th. Snow amounts added up to around a foot in several lower elevation locations before the event concluded.
