Multiple reports were received from trained spotters, the public, and an off-duty NWS employee of 6 inches new snow or greater, including a peak measurement of a foot.

Wider weather episode

A moist southwesterly flow aloft overrunning a cold surface airmass across much of the region resulted in a period of moderate to heavy snow January 3rd and 4th. Snow amounts added up to around a foot in several lower elevation locations before the event concluded.
