The public reported 6.5 inches new snow late January 3 into January 4th in Three Forks. Additionally, another public report was received from 1 mile south of Whitehall of 6.5 inches.

The wider storm

A moist southwesterly flow aloft overrunning a cold surface airmass across much of the region resulted in a period of moderate to heavy snow January 3rd and 4th. Snow amounts added up to around a foot in several lower elevation locations before the event concluded.
