Event narrative

A report of 22 inches new snow for the event was received from Showdown Ski area. Additionally, a trained spotter 2 miles SSE of Monarch reported a foot of new snow mid way through the event.

Wider weather episode

Upper level troughing initially brought a round of strong winds across Central and North-central Montana before the event transitioned to a long duration snowfall event, mostly for the mountains and northerly upslope areas of Central Montana. Areas in the Bears Paw and around Lewistown received 2 feet of new snow or more.
