Wider weather episode
Lake effect snow off of Lake Ontario drifted south across Oneida County on Tuesday, the 14th. Snow was heavy at times with snowfall rates up to 2 to 3 inches per hour in the most intense band of snow. The lake effect snow moved south Tuesday night as winds became more northwesterly and moved into portions of Onondaga and Madison Counties. Winds shifted back to the west during the day Wednesday, the 15th, which allowed the lake effect snow to lift back north through the NYS Thruway corridor and into Oneida County. The snow dissipated as it lifted north out of the area Wednesday night as upper level ridging built in aloft.
