At Aho in Watauga County, a home weather station recorded a wind gusts of 62 mph. Additionally, wind gusts of 58 mph or greater were common at this location for approximately 90 minutes.

A cold front crossed the region during the mid-morning hours of December 11, 2024. Behind this front, winds increased significantly from the west-northwest. At Aho in Watauga County, a home weather station recorded a wind gusts of 62 mph. Additionally, wind gusts of 58 mph or greater were common at this location for approximately 90 minutes between 4:00 PM EST and 5:30 PM EST. Surry County had estimated winds gust of 40 mph. However, with wet soils, trees were brought down over different portions of the county.
