Event narrative

Multiple reports of icy roads and driveways were received due to the freezing rain. MDT hoisted severe driving conditions for Highway 135. One person reported that the road was a sheet of ice, with multiple vehicles, including a semi-truck, losing control.

Wider weather episode

Very cold ground temperatures combined with rainfall caused wet roads to ice up from north-central Idaho into western Montana. This event started on January 31.
