National Gridded Snowfall Analysis indicated storm totals of 6 to 24 inches at elevations between 4000 and 6000 feet, with up to 48 inches over the higher terrain, including Mt. Shasta. Precipitation amounts in the zone included 2.79 inches at Mt. Shasta City, 3.27 inches at McCloud, and 2.28 inches at Sand Flat.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure system moving into the west coast brought heavy snow to elevations above 4000 feet in northern California. A secondary, trailing disturbance brought an additional, lighter snow accumulation during the day of 12/14.
