Drought (D2) conditions continue across north central and south central South Dakota, with an eastward expansion early in February due to antecedent dry conditions. Only 5 to 50 percent of normal precipitation was observed across central and northeast South Dakota during the month. The Pierre Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) recorded just 0.05 inches of moisture, nearly 0.7 inches below the February average, while the Faulkton COOP station recorded only 0.04 inches for the month.
