The Bird Springs Pass RAWS measured a peak wind gust of 61 mph.
Wider weather episode
Winds increased along the Mojave Desert Slopes and in the south end of the Southern Sierra Nevada between the morning of February 17 and February 18 as a slow moving low pressure system moved across the Great Basin with an associated cold front pushing southward through central California. As a result, several stations measured wind gusts exceeding 45 mph with a few stations reporting brief gusts above 60 mph.
