Event narrative

With respect to snow, 1 to 2 inches in all likelihood was reached around the county / zone before the change to freezing rain. Poughkeepsie ASOS just to the north reported just a half inch of ice, and there were reports to the west and east of or near a half inch of ice which included Danbury ASOS. Based on radar estimates in and around Putnam county warning criteria with respect to ice is estimated to have been reached.

Wider weather episode

Low pressure lifted northeast out of the Tennessee Valley and tracked just west of the area with the warm front getting up against south and southeastern portions of the region. A light accumulating snow changed to a prolonged period of freezing rain across northern interior sections.
