Event narrative
An estimated 1 to 2 inches of snow with some sleet fell across a good portion of Northern Westchester, especially further north across the zone, before a changeover to freezing rain. A trained spotter reported 1.4 inches of snow in Peekskill just before midnight and before the changeover. A tree fell on a house in North Salem from a public report. Also a tree down with wires was reported by the Department of Highways resulting in a road closure in both directions on NY Route 121 between Bloomer Road and Vail Lane.
Wider weather episode
Low pressure lifted northeast out of the Tennessee Valley and tracked just west of the area with the warm front getting up against south and southeastern portions of the region. A light accumulating snow changed to a prolonged period of freezing rain across northern interior sections.
