About a seven hour period of reduced visibility to as low as one eighth of a mile in dense fog was reported at the Hays airport (KHYS).

Wider weather episode

Widespread dense fog developed across most of central and into parts of western Kansas during the overnight hours of January 30th. Many of the observations were reporting visibility dropped to one eighth of a mile in the triangle from Hays to Dodge City and Great Bend during the morning commute time (7-8 am).
