The mesonet station AS881 4 miles east northeast of Mission recorded a 68 mph gust at 2145 PST on December 23rd. The mesonet station OD184 6 miles south southeast of Mission recorded a 70 mph gust at 0145 PST on December 24th.
Wider weather episode
An incoming winter system the night of the 23rd produced a strong surface pressure gradient across the Blue Mountains, which resulted in high winds along the base of the northern Blue Mountains.
