The mesonet station OD184 6 miles south southeast of Mission recorded a 68 mph gust at 0305 PST on December 26th. The mesonet station EW2270 Athena 3 miles south southwest of Mission recorded a 58 mph gust at 0315 PST on December 26th.
Wider weather episode
An incoming frontal system tightened pressure gradients across the forecast area the morning of the 26th. This resulted in breezy to windy conditions developing across the Columbia Basin and adjacent foothills, where the strongest winds were recorded near the base of the Northern Blue Mountains.
