Event narrative

Snowfall reports ranged from 3 to 13 inches across the valleys of Grand County. Under bands of snow during the afternoon hours on the 18th, snowfall rates of up to 2 inches per hour were reported. The duration of the heavy snowfall was short lived, less than 2 hours.

Wider weather episode

Another round of heavy snow hit the north central mountains of Colorado. Convective snow bands produce very heavy snowfall with up to 2 inches falling in 30 minutes (4 inches per hour snowfall rate!). Roads through the mountains were snow covered resulting in slow and hazardous travel.
