An area of low pressure moved west of the Appalachians with cold air wedged in across Maryland. This resulted in a mix of snow and sleet across western, central, and northern Maryland followed by freezing rain. Snow and sleet accumulations totaled a coating to two inches. Ice accumulations of a coating to locally two tenths were reported above one thousand feet in elevation.
