Based on reports, 4 to 10 inches of snow fell across the northern foothills. Because of the snow and cold temperatures, roads became snow covered and slippery.

The wider storm

An arctic cold front brought cold temperatures and snowfall to the area beginning late on the 17th and continuing into the 18th. The snowfall and cold temperatures led to snow covered roads.

A second and colder arctic cold front brought colder temperatures and light snowfall to the area on the 19th and 20th.

Denver's sheltering capacity was stretched. They cared for at least 1600 people in a variety of contexts Saturday night (18th), and more are expected Sunday (19th) and Monday nights (20th). No one has been turned away. Because of the cold temperatures, the annual Martin Luther King Jr Day march was canceled.
