An area of low pressure tracking from the Carolinas northeastward off the East Coast brought a widespread moderate to locally heavy snowfall to western Massachusetts on January 19-20, 2025. Snowfall amounts between 5 and 8 inches were common. Due to the conditions, the state Department of Transportation implemented a 40 mph speed limit on Interstate 90 across Berkshire County. Amid the heavy snowfall, the westbound travel lanes on Interstate 90 near Becket were closed due to a tractor trailer crash. No injuries were reported.
