Highway 61, in Clinton County, between Welton IA, and Highway 136 was closed due to slick conditions, and multiple accidents. Towing in that area was not allowed that night due to dangerous conditions.

Wider weather episode

Areas of light freezing drizzle occurred across eastern Iowa, northeast Missouri, and Illinois the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, February 5th. While amounts of ice accumulation were very light, slick travel resulted in most areas. Several significant vehicle accidents were reported, especially just north of the Quad Cities on Highway 61, and along Illinois 88 in Whiteside County Illinois where several multi-vehicle pileups occurred.
