A long stretch of little to no rainfall led to severe drought over much of Goliad County. A swath of showers and thunderstorms improved conditions to moderate drought across most of the area by the end of December, with a small sliver of severe drought left in southwestern portion of the county.

Wider weather episode

A long stretch of little to no rainfall led to severe drought over portions of South Texas through the month of December. This mainly impacted western San Patricio, southeastern Live Oak, Bee, western Goliad, southwestern Refugio, northern McMullen, and northern La Salle counties.
