Event narrative

The ASOS station at Crossville measured a peak wind gust of 60 mph. These very strong non-thunderstorm winds also downed numerous trees across Cumberland County, causing more than 18,000 power outages. Damages are a rough estimate.

Wider weather episode

A potent storm system tracked across the eastern United States, steering a very strong low-level jet over Middle Tennessee on March 4, 2025. These very strong upper-level winds were able to mix down to the surface which resulted in damaging winds across the area. The strongest winds during this event were measured across the Cumberland Plateau where wind gusts of 55 to 65 mph occurred. While wind gusts weren't as strong west of the Cumberland Plateau, several hours of strong winds still caused damage. Across Middle Tennessee, numerous reports of downed trees and powerlines along with power outages were received.
