Event narrative

A member of the public initially reported sleet just north of Manvel via mPING during the evening of the 20th. Precipitation rates increased overnight, becoming predominantly snow during the early morning hours of the 21st, then diminished during the late morning. Additional reports from the public showed snowfall totals around 1.7-3.0 inches.

Wider weather episode

A major winter storm impacted southern United States across the Gulf coast, producing what would go on to be historic levels of snowfall in some areas over Southeast Texas.
