Steady snowfall began in the morning, with most of the accumulations done by noon. A lull in precipitation occurred in the afternoon before brief snowfall occurred in the evening. Changeover to rain occurred after the ending time. Total snow accumulations were 1.5 inches of snow in Jonesville, and 2 inches of snow in Pennington Gap.

Wider weather episode

Isentropic lifting helped produce stratiform precipitation across Virginia, leading to snow accumulations across the area. Precipitation began as snow before eventually switching to rain.
