Morning snow over variable terrain across Washington County led to a range of snowfall reports from Abingdon. 1 to 3 inches of snow was measured by both trained spotters and the public across the city, with two distinct bursts of snow occurring during the late morning hours and the evening hours. In locations that saw closer to 3 inches, roads were covered by the snow.

Isentropic lifting helped produce stratiform precipitation across Virginia, leading to snow accumulations across the area. Precipitation began as snow before eventually switching to rain.
