Winter Storm — Dickenson, Virginia
2025-02-11 to 2025-02-12 · Dickenson, Virginia
Wider weather episode
A complex winter storm crossed through southwestern Virginia beginning early in the morning on February 11th. The heaviest snow fell during the predawn hours on the 11th into the late morning before a wintry mix took hold for the rest of the event. With the help of local cooperative observers and trained spotters, between 2 to 6 inches of snow were observed in southwest Virginia. Slight terrain effects seemed to have occurred in Dickenson County, where winter storm criteria was met north of Clintwood and Clinchco with a report of 5 inches. Warmer temperatures later on February 11th resulted in a transition over to a wintry mix by the afternoon and overnight hours, diminishing any additional potential for measurable snow showers. The low pressure system then departed the area by the end of February 12th.
