High winds blew down multiple trees that fell on to power lines near the intersection of Strother Road and Creston Avenue and also near the intersection of Franklin Road and Avenham Avenue.

After a strong cold front exited the Mid Atlantic on March 6, northwest winds increased and became gusty. These high winds blew down multiple trees that knocked down power lines. The highest gust recorded was 60 mph in Floyd County.
