A weather station one mile east southeast of Check measured a gust of 60 mph.

After a strong cold front exited the Mid Atlantic on March 6, northwest winds increased and became gusty. These high winds blew down multiple trees that knocked down power lines. The highest gust recorded was 60 mph in Floyd County.
