Heavy Snow in Richmond, Georgia

Light snow began in the county by late morning and continued on and off through the day, with bands of moderate snow by mid afternoon and into the evening. Public reports across the county indicated between 1 to 2 inches of snow fell with the highest report from Fort Eisenhower of 2.2 inches.

A strong upper level trough moved into the southeastern US with a developing surface low moving near the Georgia and South Carolina coast. Light snow began in the morning but as warm advection and frontogenesis strengthened, a band of moderate to heavy snow developed by the evening of the 21st, continuing into the overnight with amounts exceeding 2 inches in the southeastern Midlands.
