Wider weather episode
A clipper system with limited moisture moved through early on Sunday, the 26th, and winds became westerly in its wake leading to the development of lake effect snow off of Lake Ontario. This lake effect activity drifted south into northern Oneida County during the morning hours and continued until the early evening when it drifted back to the north and out of the county. The main band did overperform during the morning hours prompting a Winter Weather Advisory to be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning for lake effect snow. Some gusty winds accompanied the lake effect snow band as well leading to blowing snow and reduced visibility.
