Event narrative

Light snow began early in the afternoon with a moderate band moving into the area by the evening into the overnight. Snow accumulations were generally between 1 to 3 inches with the highest observed snowfall of 2.5 inches west of I-26.

Wider weather episode

A strong upper level trough moved into the southeastern US with a developing surface low moving near the Georgia and South Carolina coast. Light snow began in the morning but as warm advection and frontogenesis strengthened, a band of moderate to heavy snow developed by the evening of the 21st, continuing into the overnight with amounts exceeding 2 inches in the southeastern Midlands.
