The wider storm
A surface cold front drifted southeastward across southwestern QC, the central Great Lakes, and southern WI during the early evening of the 27th through the very early morning of the 28th. Within the warm and humid sector ahead of the cold front, a line of multicell thunderstorms persisted east-southeastward across Lake Erie during the evening of the 27th and generated periodic gale-force peak convective wind gusts along the northern OH and northwest PA shore. During the early morning of the 28th, a separate cluster of multicell thunderstorms persisted east-southeastward over western Lake Erie and produced a gale-force peak convective wind gust at the Toledo Harbor Light C-MAN Station. These storms occurred in an ambient environment with weak to moderate MUCAPE, moderate to strong DCAPE, and moderate effective bulk shear.
