Event narrative

TV meteorologists received a report of a funnel cloud observed from Lajas. The pictures depicted the funnel cloud over the mountainous areas of San Germn. The funnel cloud lasted between 2 and 3 minutes.

Wider weather episode

Winds were shifting east-northeast to the east as a frontal boundary dissipated north of the region. Although a mid-to-upper-level ridge was building aloft, local effects (geographic and sea breeze variations) led to the formation of showers over the mountains and western Puerto Rico, where they reported the funnel cloud.
