Northeast winds turned to southwesterly as relatively warm air overrode a colder surface airmass, promoting widespread dense fog. Dense fog advisories went into place on the early evening of the 5th and persisted until early-morning on the 6th. Visibility in fog dropped to one quarter mile at Dodge City as early as 6 pm on the 5th, as dense fog expanded west toward the highway 23 and 83 corridors along and south of highway 400 during the evening.
