Wind chills very briefly moved into Extreme Cold Warning Criteria with wind chills around -20F 2/19 at 7:00 AM, and lasted for a few hours.

A blast of record cold air moves into the central United States, with the initial cold front moving over western Kansas on Monday night. Tuesday and Wednesday brought cold temperatures into the -20F to -30F range not just for the morning hours but lingering into the daytime hours. A period of light to at times moderate snow fell along with this initial period of cold air intrusion, and prompted a winter storms warning and advisories for most of the area.
