A shortwave trough moved through Arkansas early on March 13, with convection eventually refiring in parts of Central Alabama along a boundary that had moved east from the Mississippi Valley. A storm just after 8 AM produced up to nickel-size hail in the Winfield and Ethridge areas. More activity formed in the late evening across northwest Alabama, with a cell moving southeastward into Winston County and dropping nickel-size hail near Double Springs.
